Design Bundle

Our Design Bundle is aimed at upskilling senior students (upper KS3, GCSE, senior phase GET and IB Diploma Program) using a cross-curricular approach which intersects with English Language and Literature, Media Studies and Visual Arts. This entire bundle is expected to be achievable for students over the course of 8 to 12 weeks when using a 2 hours per week lesson model.

Inlcusive of a 34-page upskilling workbook which covers the following topics using interactive discussion starters, scaffolded theory knowledge with a range of associated activities and tasks, as well as progress checkpoints for AFL:

  • Target Tracker and Scriptwriting Rubric: adapted using GCSE and A-level drama and theatre studies rubrics
  • Screen to Stage Design Portfolio Task: this is the mastery task with step-by-step guidelines for students to achieve success across analytical writing, research, draft designs and final mock ups for costume and set designs (students or educators are given the freedom to choose their own film to evaluate)

  • Cinematography vs Scenography: a basic set of activities around design elements and principles and the four main stage spaces
  • Film Analysis Guided Questions: a basic set of scaffolded questions to support a full analysis around the mise-en-scene, meaning and elements of filmed media (which will support their critical film review process later)
  • Critical Film Review Task: a practical guide to crafting an outstanding film analysis which mimics the type of analysis a design student will need for exam-level evaluations.
  • Progress Checkpoint: an AFL checkpoint which provides data for educators to engage for gainful discussions around the viability of a student following a design stream for GCSE or A-level
  • Fix It Targets: a final checkpoint space for students to consider the skills they've learned and how they could potentially improve them

This bundle also inlcudes a 67-slide upskilling Powerpoint Presentation which follows the same structure as the workbook whilst also leaving space for teachers to adapt content for their cohorts as they see fit:
